Face Mask For Acne Or Oily Skin With Egg White And Lemon

Egg white helps reduce excess sebum in your skin by shrinking the size of your pores.

It will also give your skin a firmer and more even look by greatly reducing larger pores.

Lemon brightens and exfoliates. It’s great for acne prone skin, age and sun spots or uneven skin tone. It is also a natural source of vitamin C and rich in alpha hydroxy acids.

The combination of ingredients create the perfect face mask for acne or to help oily skin.

Egg White Face Mask with Lemon for Oily and Acne Skin

How To Make The Face Mask

“Skin tightening” and a little discomfort is the immediate effect anyone gets by applying egg white based face masks, but this effect quickly disappears once you remove the face mask. :)

Egg white has also an exfoliating effect, removing the accumulated dirt from your pores.

Ingredients required

You will need:

  • juice from ½ a lemon

Steps

    1. Beat the egg white first until it turns a bit frothy.
    2. Add the lemon juice to your egg white.

    4. Leave your face mask on your skin for about 30 minutes.
    5. Gently rinse it off with warm water apply a proper moisturizer for oily skin.

  1. I live in LA and the air quality is so terrible, my sensitive skin always breaks out when I’m here. Nothing has fixed it, not even proactive. This mask is the only thing that works :)

    • Georgiana Coslenco says:

      Hey LMY,
I like the look of LA and I can’t wait to visit some day.
It makes me so happy to know that this recipe works for you.
Yet here is a healthy habit that can also help prevent acne:

A good way to prevent acne is to wash your face more often using a cleansing gel that’s appropriate for your type of skin.
An effective rule is to wash your face 2 times a day, once in the morning and once in the evening.
If you practice sports, you may or may not have a greasy face after you finished your training. Either way, do not wait until you get home to wash the sweat off as it will dry on your face causing pores to block and lead to spots.
Similarly, if you travel by public transport and you are exposed to germs, pollution, dirt and warm or moist air, try to wash your face during the day about 3 to 4 times.
      However:
Although oily skin can often be a burden because this skin has the tendency to develop spots, there is still some good news hidden in all this.
I know that it doesn’t seem to be any positive with an oily/acne skin, BUT the excess oil keeps your skin elastic and that means, worries about wrinkles will occur much later than your friends with dry skin.

I hope these tips help too and thank you for your appreciation and nice comment. :)

  2. I LOVE this! I’ve been breaking out lately and today I had a look in the over head mirror in my car…. I call it The Truth mirror ’cause you can see EVERYTHING w/o flattering light or anything special LOLOL. How often should I use this mask?

    • Georgiana Coslenco says:

      Hi Adryn,
I like your method with the truth mirror :)
I think that if this face mask works for you, I would say it needs to be applied up to 3 times/week.
You can apply this less often when you will see improvements in your skin. So basically you will know when it will be the time to just apply this face mask once a week or even once at 2 weeks. Until then I would apply it 3 times/week.
      Good luck.

  3. If I’m allergic to lemons do you think i will flar up using this mask?

    • Georgiana Coslenco says:

      Hi Mary,
If you are allergic to lemons, I wouldn’t advise you using them.
However, you could replace the lemons from this mask with the juice from a fresh orange or some honey :)
Don’t use ingredients that you are allergic to.

  4. Does it actually shrink your pores? I dont think anything works for mine. And my breakouts from makeup

    • Georgiana Coslenco says:

It really helps a lot with pores, yes. But just like anything else, the results will be better seen in time. It will improve the texture of your skin.

  5. Mandlovu says:

Thank you so much for the cost effective remedies. I have bad acne and I can’t wait to start using these masks

    • Georgiana Coslenco says:

      Hi Mandlovu,

The face or hair masks I post on my blog they are a selection of recipes that I know are efficient and work.
However, if your acne is really bad, you might want to also see a skin doctor. Sometimes, it is best to know if its anything else that we need to do. There are cases in which the acne needs to be treated starting from the interior of our bodies. Our diet and lifestyle have also a great impact on our skin and hair or nails. So only you can really know if a visit to the doctor might be necessary.
Good health and good luck. Let me know how you get on!

  6. Hello ,
