5 Natural Remedies For Dark Circles Under Eyes

Nobody wants to look like a Panda with dark circles – but it can happen to most of us at some point in our lives.

  • aging  – the skin loses its elasticity and dark circles may appear

  • working for long hours in front of a computer

Dark circles are not a serious skin problem, but they make people look exhausted, unhealthy and older. You can easily get rid of dark shadows under your eyes by using some of my tips below.

One of the most important solutions that combat dark circles is water. So drink plenty!

Refrigerated cold water is an extremely beneficial way to refresh your eye area. Soak 2 cotton pads in cold water and apply them on your eyes by keeping them for about 5-10 minutes.

1. Potatoes

Even if it might sound incredible, dark circles can be reduced by applying potato slices before sleeping.

Potatoes are quite rich in vitamins and minerals that work wonders for tired skin and wrinkles. This vegetable refreshes and softens the complexion and is great for any type of skin.

Cosmetic treatments that contain potato are really efficient in getting rid of wrinkles, dark circles and eyes red with tiredness.
This treatment will definitely be useful in case of having your eyes red and watery from all that time spent on the computer.

To improve the appearance of the area around your eyes, clean, wash and then slice a potato.

  • Apply the fresh slices on your eyes and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  • Then remove them and rinse your eyes with cold water.

For a better result you can repeat this procedure in the morning and evening. At this rate traces of dark circles and fatigue might disappear even after just one week.

2. Rose water

Rose water has antioxidants properties and it also contains Vitamin C and A. It is used in cosmetic products but also in many treatments as it does a lot of good for the skin.

Rose water revives tired skin making it more radiant and contributing to the natural glow of any complexion. It is known to be very effective for irritation, redness and inflammation of eyes.

So if you need to refresh your eye area, soak two disks in a bit of  rose water and apply them on your eyes for about 5-10 minutes.

3. Cucumber juice

Cucumber juice can be extremely useful for the area around your eyes.

It has a refreshing effect and you will relax your eyes. Works even to take your stress away.

All you have to do is to soak two disks in a small amount of cucumber juice (just grate the cucumber to get the juice) and let it work for 15 minutes.

4. Chamomile

Chamomile has numerous great benefits to offer in order to help you relieve your stress and relax easily. You can also drink some chamomile tea before bedtime if your dark circles are caused by stress and fatigue.

Another method is to insert an unused chamomile tea bag in a bit of mineral water and with which you can then moisten two cotton pads.

Apply them on your eyes for 10 minutes.

5. Fruit and vegetables

Eat more fruits and vegetables and avoid exhausting your eyes late at night by reading or sitting at the computer too long.

    I’ve had good success with the egg white mask; I just use what’s left in the egg shells after using for cooking. I haven’t tried whipping the egg whites; I just put on my face from the shell. Is there a great benefit to frothing the egg white first? I’m just now trying the egg white/avocado mask. I didn’t use milk and honey because I don’t have either; also, I can’t eat honey because of systemic candida allergy and assume it wouldn’t be good for my shin either.
    So far my skin is not becoming taut as it does with just the egg white. I guess that’s to be expected.

    I am really glad that you trying my home made masks. I hope you like them.
    The benefit in whipping the egg white first is that it makes it easy to apply..and I just like to froth it first as it stops looking so like mucus.. 😛
    Also if you add other ingredients to it they blend more easily.
    I suppose its fine not whipping it, if you are just using the egg white alone.
    And if you have that allergy from honey, it is wise to avoid it. I would do the same if I was in your shoes.
    Also I know is not comfortable when you have egg white on your face. I admit I don’t like it either; but its so worth it for the benefit that it brings for my skin that I always forgive myself for thinking that about egg white, each time I remove the egg white from my face :)))
    Regarding the egg white/avocado mask, you can definitely go with just these 2 ingredients, because the texture of the avocado. One thing though: with this mask, try whipping the egg white first a bit, it will make it easier for you to blend in the avocado 😉
