Chamomile has always been an appreciated herbal remedy due to its many health benefits but also for its great usage in cosmetics treatments.
This plant has been used for centuries as a treatment for colds and fevers, it has a pleasant distinctive aroma and it is also an effective sedative for people looking to calm and relax themselves.
Chamomile has healing properties along with antiseptic and anti-inflammatory capabilities.
It can successfully treat eczema, acne, can sooth skin rashes and it also helps with minor burns and sunburn.
Furthermore this herb prevents bacterial infection, can help reduce skin inflammation and speed the healing process.
Chamomile is a good remedy to have around when suffering from a skin problem. A product that contains this power flower can really make a great difference.
There are particular substances that chamomile contains which have great healing properties and that are intensively used in cosmetics.
The essential oils that chamomile flowers contain make a great contribution to our health and skin. It is also known to bring numerous benefits for sensitive skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
You can buy products that contain chamomile or you can prepare them yourselves. Through a few simple steps you can have your own home made mask or facial scrub with chamomile.
Bisabolol – which can be found in chamomile – has a subtle sweet floral aroma and is used in a variety of fragrances. It has also been used for centuries in cosmetics because of its skin healing properties.
Flavonoids (which in the mid-1930`s to early 50`s were referred to as Vitamin P) can also be found in chamomile. Flavonoids are widely spread in plants as they fulfill many functions, one of these being the plant pigments for flower coloration.
However flavonoids bring a range of benefits for human health as well. They have anti-microbial, anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, anti-diarrhea and anti-cancer actions.
So by enjoying a chamomile tea we can relax ourselves by eliminating stress. Chamomile tea also helps us fight free radicals and different allergies. Chamomile is also great in fighting dark circles and it can help you get rid of that look of tired eyes.
It also controls the secretion of digestive juices being very useful for those who have stomach pain or heartburn. Another thing with which it helps is abdominal cramps and diarrhea, due to its antispasmodic properties that adjust the bowel movements (intestinal motility).
Chamomile tea improves absorption and digestion in the intestines, having a soothing effect on the digestive mucosa.
I will also add that one chamomile tea at night, one hour before bed, helps me sleep like a baby. I know that chamomile has a relaxation effect and it also prevents cramps (tendrils) which is good to avoid during sleep. 🙂
So if you want to fall asleep faster and have a good rest try chamomile tea one hour before bed.
